I would just portal into a dimension, grab the loot box, then hop out again. If I had to fight more than one party to get to the box, I would leave and try the next one. Even though my Mortys are one shot, it would still take time to battle, and then I have to stop by the Healing Center. It was just easier to skip the fighting, and more satisfying getting the loot without getting caught by the trainers.
