Catch them all? Or collect them all?

Is there any rewards for catching all the present available Mortys? And if so do you need to catch them an keep them in your collection or does it count if you catch and release?

I know this is an old topic, but new player here.

I have kind of the same question.

I've read to finish the game you must have all Morty's.

So does that mean you need to have all Morty's in your inventory or just have caught them at some point.

With the combining Morty's to upgrade them, really hoping (and expect) you just need to have caught them at some point.

Caught them at some point. I know because I have caught all of the Mortys. There is no special reward for catching all available Mortys and it isn't nessicary to beat the story mode of the game.

As long as they keep creating new Mortys with each update, you'll theoretically never be able to catch all the Mortys (not to mention the whole Egg Morty paradox); I just wish that they'd continue adding more levels like challenges from the council, quests, Morty games rounds, etc, because after a while, once you've completed them all and levelled all your Mortys up to 100, without new things to do just waiting around for a new release just to catch the newest Mortys (who, because of how the game is structured, will never be as good as the Mortys you've had and cultivated and grown from the lowest levels), the game gets pretty boring unless you reset it and start over from scratch every so often (which I've done at least two or three times at this point...)

How long have you been playing? And how long does it take you to "finish" the game?

Maybe I'll go the slow route and take my time.

I've been playing since the game was first released. I can't really remember how long it took to "finish" the game, but after the first time, I've tried to slow down my progression each time by focusing on rotating and gradually levelling up most of my Mortys before winning a badge and moving on to the next level. (It also depends on how much spare time I have to play, which waxes and wanes day-to-day depending on whatever else is going on in my life)
